With two charging current options: 12V / 4A and 12V / 0.8A. As a result, this battery charger can also be used for small batteries.
The storage mode is activated when the battery has not been discharged for 24 hours. In this storage mode, the float voltage is reduced to 13.2 V, which minimizes gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week the voltage is increased again to absorption level to ‘recharge’ the battery. This prevents stratification of the electrolyte and sulphation, the main cause of premature battery failure.
The charger is protected against overheating and connection with reverse polarity. The output current will decrease when the temperature rises to 40 ºC, but the charger will not stop. The output relay protects against reverse polarity.
Five LEDs for status and mode indication
The charger always starts in STANDBY mode when connected to an AC power supply. When AC power is connected, the STANDBY LED lights up. There is then no voltage at the output. After connection to a battery (battery voltage must be higher than 8.5 V), you can select from three charging profiles with the MODE button.
