This Skylla-TG battery charger is a battery charger and power supply developed for GMDSS applications. GMDSS is the Global Maritime Distress & Safety System developed by the IMO (International Maritime Organization) to improve maritime calamities and safety communications.
This Skylla contains additional equipment, such as a battery controller, to perform monitoring and alarm functions required for the GMDSS.
Data and alarms can be displayed on a separately ordered digital display, in which case the charger is connected to the display via a standard 8-core UTP cable.
Universal 90-265 V AC input voltage range and also suitable for DC power supply
All Skylla-TG battery chargers operate for a 180-265 V input voltage range for 50 Hz and 60 Hz. In addition, the chargers also work with a 90 – 400 V DC power supply
Two outputs for charging two batteries
The battery chargers have 2 mutually insulated outputs. The second output, which is intended for charging a starter battery, is limited to 4 A and has a slightly lower output voltage.
Increase battery life: Temperature Compensation
A temperature sensor, which is supplied with every TG battery charger, ensures that the charging voltage decreases when the battery temperature rises.
The battery chargers are equipped with Voltage Sensing to compensate for voltage loss due to cable resistance. This ensures that the battery always receives the correct charging voltage.
These battery chargers can be used as power supply in the absence of batteries or large buffer capacitors. This is made possible because the output voltage is perfectly stabilized.
